Loretta Swit at MASH themed party

Loretta Swit, aka “Hot Lips” Houlihan on the beloved TV show M*A*S*H, spoke to Local 10 news anchor Kristi Krueger on Veterans Day about Never The Same: The Prisoner of War Experience.

Swit narrates the documentary about American prisoners of Imperial Japan during World War II. “It’s uplifting, spiritual and about the resilience of the human spirit,” the actress, 78, told Krueger. “And how human beings can triumph over the most extreme adversity.”

The movie premiered earlier in the day as part of The International Film Festival of Fort Lauderdale at Cinema Paradiso. A few hours later, FLIFF VIPs were shuttled to the Villa De Palma event space nearby. Guests knew something interesting was up when fog started rising outside the theater at about 8:15 p.m. Shortly after, a chopper made several (loud) passes above. Inside, a model posed on a stretcher that served as a sushi bar; many attendees were dressed in camouflage or as doctors, nurses or their favorite M*A*S*H characters, e.g., Hawkeye, Klinger and Major (Charles) Winchester III.
