Disney summer to begin with 24-hour event at Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World Resort, with the help of Olaf, the snowman from Frozen, will hold its annual kickoff of summer with a 24-hour event at Magic Kingdom Memorial Day Weekend. The park will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 a.m. on May 22-23, and guests are invited to wear Disney-themed costumes.

This will be the fourth year for the round-the-clock event, which Disney throws around the end of the school year to promote its parks. This year’s theme will be “Coolest Summer Ever.”

Both the kickoff event and the summer schedule will include now-requisite elements from the blockbuster hit Frozen. In addition to naming Olaf as host, Disney announced a number of Frozen-related activities, including a royal processional, sing-along show, fireworks display and more at Disney’s Hollywood Studios June 17 to Sept. 7.
