In honor of its opening one year ago, the Miami-Dade Animal Services Pet Adoption and Protection Center is offering to send people home Tuesday with a new animal friend — for just a $1 adoption fee.
The fee includes a microchip, deworming, rabies and booster vaccinations and spaying or neutering.
But would-be pet owners shouldn’t just bring a dollar in cash: Florida law does require pet owners to pay a $27 license fee and, if the pet is too young to be spayed or neutered, a refundable deposit.
The pet shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at 3599 NW 79 Avenue in Doral. Children will also be able to enjoy face painting, DIY crafts and a storytelling session from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
