Sometimes it takes a village. For Johnny Depp, make that an entire village.
The actor has put his “estate” in Plan de la Tour, France, on the market at close to $26 million.
About 17 miles from Saint Tropez, the 37-acre property includes a complete Provencal village of stone-built houses dating back more than 200 years. Since buying the property in 2001, Depp has restored and decorated the homes one by one, spending more than $10 million on improvements. He converted a church to a guesthouse and installed a wine-tasting cave that looks like a set from The Pirates of the Caribbean film series. The star has used the retreat as his family getaway.
The more than a dozen structures include a main house, several guest cottages, a chapel, a bar and restaurant, a workshop/garage and a staff house. The 10,760-square-foot Bohemian-style living space contains more than 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms.
A hunter’s cabin, a painter’s studio where Depp worked, a children’s playroom and a gym are among other living spaces.
Depp, 52, has starred in more than 50 major motion pictures, including Edward Scissorhands, Benny and Joon and Donnie Brasco.
A GOLDEN GIRL’S BRENTWOOD HOME
The longtime home of the late actress Bea Arthur of Golden Girls fame has come on the market in L.A.’s Brentwood neighborhood at $15.995 million.
Set on four acres dotted with mature oaks and sycamore trees, the original Spanish-style house was built in 1924. The home later was expanded and updated to 6,000 square feet and includes a large living room with a vaulted beamed ceiling, a formal dining room and a media room.
A kitchen/great room combination, a bar, an art studio, a den, a gym, a library/study, two offices, five bedrooms and six bathrooms are among the other living spaces.
The sprawling grounds contain hiking trails, a tennis court, a swimming pool with a spa and waterfalls.
Arthur, who died in 2009 at 86, won Emmys for her work on The Golden Girls (1985-92) and Maude (1972-78). The deep-voiced actress also won a Tony for her role in the original cast of Mame (1966).
In the years since her death, the house has been offered for lease. The property last changed hands in 1980 for $551,500, public records show. She bought the place after her 1978 divorce from Broadway director Gene Saks.

Family and dining rooms, a bar, a den, an office and a guest apartment with separate kitchen are within the 6,800 square feet of space. The kitchen features two islands, two ovens, two dishwashers and a fireplace. There are six bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
