‘Very active’ Miami woman seeks nonsurgical options for looking better

Q: I have a 45th high school reunion coming up in two months and I’d like to look better. Is there anything you can suggest for me as I do not want surgery? By the way I am a very active woman.

A: You have many options to make you look better and feel better for your reunion. Not having seen you, I’m going to assume that you probably have a lot of skin damage secondary to sun exposure growing up in South Florida.

I would start with a hydra facial to hydrate and exfoliate your skin. I would follow it with CE Ferulic, Pigmentation Defense and HA Intensifier, which are all Skinceutical products I use. At your age, I would assume you have some brow ptosis (droopy eyelids) and some excess skin of your upper eyelids. In order to improve these I would use either Botox or Dysport to get rid of some of the wrinkles and to give you a upper face rejuvenation (brow lift).

If you’re active like most people in Miami, you probably have some volume loss in your mid face and are starting to droop. For this area I would use either Juvederm, Voluma or Restylane to give you a mid face lift. Don’t worry, I don’t like the chipmunk look! If your nasal labial folds are very prominent, you can use these products for that area, as well.

If you are starting to have jowling and are concerned about that area, you can use Ultherapy to tighten the skin. While it won’t make your face look like you had a lift, it will certainly tighten it up and make it better. If your pores are very prominent and you would like to improve them, you might consider micro needling with platelet rich plasma (PRP) from your own blood. If you appear tired or have droopiness around your eyes, Restylane can be used to fill in the tear trough area . This will make your eyes appear as if they’ve had surgery!

Obviously you should go to a well-trained physician or physician extender who has significant experience with skin care and facial injectables.
