The right dip but the wrong strip led to a 31-state recall of particular concern to those dealing with egg allergies.
La Terra Fina’s recalling its Spinach Artichoke & Parmesan Dip in 10-ounce containers with a Best By date of Nov. 1, 2017. Yes, that’s the Spinach Artichoke & Parmesan Dip in the Spinach Artichoke & Parmesean container, putting La Terra Fina ahead of recent Whole Foods' and General Mills' food allergy recalls.
But the nutrition-UPC code strip is from a different dip. That means the ingredients don’t include egg. That can be a bit of a problem if someone with egg allergies thinks the dip is egg-free.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,” reminds the FDA recall notice.
In addition to retail outlets in Florida and the District of Columbia, the dip was sold in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming.
Consumers can return the dip to their place of purchase for a refund. Those with questions can call La Terra Fina at 1-855-655-6418, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday.
