5 food authors not to miss at the Miami Book Fair

A book lover’s feast has plenty on the menu for food lovers, as well.

The Miami Book Fair, which runs through Sunday, has more than two dozen cookbook authors, chefs and food experts in cooking demonstrations, deep conversations and book signings. A full schedule is available online, but here are five events food fans won’t want to miss.

Among the best conversations at last year’s book fair was Greenman’s with musician Questlove, with whom he coauthored a book. This conversation with gourmand and celebrity “Top Chef” judge Lakshmi should prove interesting, as well. She recently published a memoir, “Love, Loss and What We Ate,” a memoir of food and family, and her latest is “The Encyclopedia of Spices & Herbs: An essential guide to the flavors of the world.”

“Real Food/Fake Food,” Larry Olmsted

The award-winning food and travel writer goes inside the American food industry in his book to expose the fake food all around us — and how to spot it.

Jacobsen, winner of a James Beard Award for his food writing, set out to write the definitive oyster lover’s book. He writes all you ever wanted to know about oysters and includes recipes from top American chefs. There’s even a guide to the best oyster bars.

“Bounty From the Box: The CSA Farm Cookbook,” Mi Ae Lipe

Getting that weekly box of fresh vegetables from your community-supported agriculture (CSA) farm can be like an episode of “Chopped.” Fortunately, Lipe’s talmudic book provides an endless number of recipes, from amaranth to zucchinis, with a bit of history and plenty of tips from cleaning and trimming to storage.

The author discusses the “big business, big love, and big giving” behind the couple that started the Golden Arches.
