Florida: Universal plans ‘A Celebration of Harry Potter’

August 17, 2013 12:00 AM

Building on the popularity of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure, Universal Orlando will host a three-day celebration of the boy wizard in January, an event that appears to be similar to Disney World’s Star Wars Weekends. “A Celebration of Harry Potter,” to be held Jan. 24-26, will include a film tribute, Q&A sessions with Harry Potter “talent” and filmmakers, and a wand masterclass where attendees can learn the art of “duelling.” Most of the events will be open to all park guests, but those who buy a vacation package will have access to a private reception and reserved seating at certain events. The packages, which start at $675 for Universal’s on-site hotels and $395 for off-site hotels, will go on sale Thursday.

Details: www.universalorlando.com/celebration.
