Alaskan mother Jennifer Lovdahl purchased a Happy Meal six years ago from McDonald’s, and according to recent pictures, it’s still looking almost good enough to eat. The pictures have gone viral.
As part of an experiment to determine how durable McDonald’s food really is, Lovdahl let her meal sit around without disturbing it. Fast-forward six years later, and the nuggets and small fries are still looking pretty fresh. In a Facebook caption along with a picture of the food, Lovdahl wrote that the meal “has not rotted, molded, or decomposed at all. It smells only of cardboard.”
Snopes.com, a website for validating or debunking Internet claims, points out that this is not unique to McDonald’s. Under specific conditions, Snopes says, food items (and other organic matter) dry out quickly and don’t decompose.
