Fred Grimm has worked for The Miami Herald since 1976. As a metro reporter, he covered events such as the Mariel boatlift and the 1980 McDuffie riots, then spent 10 years as the paper’s Atlanta bureau chief. In 1991, he began writing a column about Broward County. His regular column now covers all of South Florida and occasionally, state, national and international issues. A native of Pineville, West Virginia, the Miami Herald is the fifth newspaper he has worked at.
