La fractura en la pierna derecha que el sábado acabó con el sueño mundialista del volante mexicano Luis Montes en el amistoso de su selección contra Ecuador, necesitará de entre cuatro y seis meses de recuperación, informó este domingo el médico que le operó.

“Encontramos en la pierna del ‘Chapo’ una fractura de la tibia y peroné”, explicó el doctor Rafael Ortega al estimar que para la plena recuperación del jugador se podrá “ir de los cuatro a los seis meses”.

Montes, pieza clave en el ataque del debilitado Tri, sufrió la fractura al minuto 35 al disputar un balón con el delantero ecuatoriano Segundo Castillo, apenas dos minutos depsués de haber anotado el primer gol del partido amistoso entre México y Ecuador, que ganó el combinado azteca 3-1 en Dallas.

Horas más tarde, los directivos del León, club al que pertenece Montes, enviaron un avión privado a los Estados Unidos para traer de regreso a México a su jugador, quien fue operado en las primeras horas de este domingo en la ciudad de Guadalajara (oeste).

“A través de la cirugía logró la estabilización al 100 por ciento. Estamos muy optimistas y con la seguridad de que Luis estará de regreso en el futbol mexicano”, garantizó Ortega.

La pérdida de Montes en la convocatoria para el Mundial pegó “muy fuerte” al Tri, admitió consternado el sábado el seleccionador Miguel ‘Piojo' Herrera, que aseguró que ahora había que recuperar “en lo mental” al equipo.

“Sin duda alguna, es el jugador que mejor venía funcionando en la liga y en el equipo [nacional] en este momento”, declaró Herrera, que convocó en su lugar a Javier Aquino, del Villarreal español.

Luis Montes es la segunda baja por lesión que sufre la selección mexicana para Brasil 2014. En días pasados, el mediocampista Juan Carlos Medina se lesionó del tobillo derecho durante la concentración en Ciudad de México y fue relevado por Miguel Ponce.
