February may be food month in Miami (thanks to the annual South Beach Wine & Food Festival) but June won’t fall far behind, as two delicious foodie events take center stage. From June 9 to 29, Coral Gables Restaurant Week invites culinary revelers to taste the best of The City Beautiful. More than 35 Gables restaurants will offer special three-course lunches and dinners, paired with the event’s official beverage—a Bacardi Cuba Libre. Participating restaurants include Bulla, Talavera, Morton’s The Steakhouse, Divino Ceviche and Franz Bierhaus. For details, check out coralgablesrestaurantweek.com. Then, on June 17, Miami-Dade and Broward’s best chefs will come together for Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation South Florida event, which raises money to end childhood hunger. Tickets to the tasting event, which will be held in the ballroom at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, are $125 for general admission and $250 for VIP entries, which allow guests access an hour before doors officially open, and provides entry to the official after-party at Lure Fishbar, in the Loews too. Last year’s event drew more than 50 restaurants and raised more than $130,000. For details, or to purchase tickets, go to CE.NoKidHungry.org/SouthFlorida.
