Miami Beach police made four arrests for disorderly conduct and intoxication after a massive crowd converged on the sand over the holiday weekend.

Detective Vivian Hernandez said “multiple fights” broke out in the early evening Monday as an estimated 2,000 people tried to make their way home from the beach between Sixth and Eighth streets.

A massive crowd made their way to the jam-packed sandbar of Miami Beach this weekend, with the Valentine’s Day and President’s Day holidays, as well as the Miami International Boat Show and the beginning of the college Spring Break season.

“Our city is very unique in terms of special events and it’s been happening for years, so we plan accordingly,” Hernandez said. “In terms of officers we are prepared, especially during the eight- to 10-week period during Spring Break.”
