Call it the lux scene that keeps on giving. With high-end retailers arriving to the 305 seemingly in droves, local luxury malls are ground zero for glamorous debuts. Just consider the city’s most recent openings and, equally exciting, what’s on the horizon for later this year.
Aventura Mall, recently ranked America’s second most visited shopping mall by Travel + Leisure magazine, saw three important openings over the summer: that of Swedish timepiece company CORUM, which calls the new boutique its flagship for North America and key to its Latin American market efforts; Cartier, for whom it's the third Miami store, and seventh in Florida; and chic French leather and accessories house Longchamp, for whom it’s the second South Florida store. “The Miami area is the perfect mix of luxury shoppers with international flair,” said Longchamp CEO Stephanie Disegni.
Bal Harbour Shops, South Florida’s true luxury pioneer, where work on an extensive expansion is in motion, will in August welcome NEST, the ultra luxurious accessories shop owned by Sara Colombo, who leaves her longtime Lincoln Road home, and elegant glass house Lalique, set to open in September. This is on the heels of debuting Etro and Sergio Rossi over the summer.
Meanwhile, the county’s southern reaches saw Dadeland Mall open its first luxury wing, with Hugo Boss, Stuart Weitzman and Donald J Pliner coming in as strong fashion tenants; more upscale dining options are also expected to launch in early 2014. And the open air Coral Gables beauty that is the Village of Merrick Park will see Diane Von Furstenberg open more than 2,000 square feet in September.
