Miami Beach commissioners decided to let the historic designation process for the home at 42 Star Island to move forward.
Commissioner Jonah Wolfson had asked the city to stop the process and let the famous couple that own the home tear it down.
Plastic surgeon Leonard Hochstein and his wife, Lisa, a cast member of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Miami, have gotten city approval to demolish the 1925 home. But that is in limbo as the city continues to consider whether the home should be historically designated
Preservationists started the historic designation process after the Hochsteins asked for permission to topple their mansion, which was designed by Florida’s first registered architect, Walter DeGarmo.
