Evelyn Lozada files for divorce from Chad Johnson

The honeymoon is officially over. Evelyn Lozada has filed for divorce from Chad Johnson, TMZ first reported. The two were married in a lavish ceremony July 4 in front of cameras for their now defunct VH1 reality show, Ev and Ocho. The network pulled the plug after Johnson’s weekend arrest for domestic abuse. In legal documents, Lozada claims the marriage is “irretrievably broken.”

The ex couple allegedly had a fight after she spotted a receipt for condoms in their Smart Car.

Her female intuition must have kicked in: RadarOnline is reporting that a Boston woman named Beverly Shiner, 30, is saying she had an affair with Johnson from January until May while the ex Dolphin was still with the Patriots. Shiner says she followed Johnson on Twitter, and he sent her a direct message with his phone number.

Lozada has had quite a week. On Monday her beloved brother in law Anthony Ochoa died of cancer, she posted on Facebook. He had just walked her down the aisle.

Lozada had just released a statement saying the fallen NFL player needs to get help.

In her first words since the incident, the former Basketball Wives star told TMZ: “It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday.”

It continues: “I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles.”

She hopes to bring attention to domestic violence.

Ironically, a few months back there was a petition on change.org, having people sign if they didn’t want Ev and Ocho to air. Some people were concerned that Basketball Wives glorifiied violence and they didn’t want Lozada to get a spinoff.
