Corporate Run to tie up Fort Lauderdale traffic

Some roads will be closed in downtown Fort Lauderdale on Thursday afternoon and evening due to the Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run.

More than 4,300 runners are expected for the race which begins at 6:45 p.m. at Southeast Second Street and Second Avenue and finishes on Las Olas Boulevard near Huizenga Plaza.

Las Olas Boulevard will be closed in that area, as well as Southeast First Avenue between Second Street and Las Olas, beginning at 1 p.m.

No traffic will be permitted on Southeast Third Avenue north of Davie Boulevard through Las Olas Boulevard during the first 20 minutes of the race. South of Davie Boulevard, southbound traffic will not be permitted to Southeast 14th Street during the race.

Northbound traffic on Andrews Avenue south of 17th Street will be directed to alternate routes. Davie Boulevard will be closed to traffic between Andrews Ave and Southeast Third Avenue.

Police will reopen roadways to traffic after the last participant proceeds along the route. Most roads will be open by 9:30 p.m., though Las Olas will remain closed near Huizenga Plaza until 11 p.m.
