While it should be warm and breezy during the day Tuesday, we could see strong storms arrive by Tuesday tonight.
Those storms could produce heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning, the National Weather Service in Miami said.
Today’s forecast calls for winds up to 28 mph with afternoon highs in the upper 70s and evening lows in the low 70s. There is a 30 percent chance of rain during the day increasing to 80 percent tonight.
There also is a high risk of rip currents at the beaches.
The stormy weather, which could continue into Wednesday, is anticipated in advance of a strong cold front approaching South Florida.
After it pushes through, temperatures should dip into the mid to upper 40s by Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Highs on Thursday are forecast to be in the upper 60s and low 70s.
The cold air should linger through the weekend.
