Trenton Daniel has been writing about Haiti since 2000. He joined The Miami Herald in 2003 and has covered everything from the 2004 coup in Haiti to hurricanes, cop shootings, and zoning meetings. Early in 2009, Trenton spent two months in Iraq, where he covered the provincial elections as well as the U.S. military’s efforts to stem mounting tensions between Kurds and Arabs. Trenton has been a fellow with the International Reporting Project in Washington, D.C., for which he traveled to Nigeria. His first overseas assignment was in Haiti, in 2000, working as a freelance writer for Reuters News Service. Trenton is a graduate of Reed College and Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
