Low country, plantation-style, spectacular waterfront estate

This spectacular estate is one of Miami’s most beautiful and well-designed homes. Located in Coral Gables at 11090 Snapper Creek Rd., within the gated Snapper Creek community, the home was designed by renowned architect David Johnson and built by Louis Gaines of Canterbury Homes.

The waterfront estate includes a wonderful, oversize, 15-foot wrap-around veranda; high ceilings; old-growth, long-leaf pine floors throughout; and exquisitely detailed custom millwork in every room.

In addition to six bedrooms and seven baths, the home features a mahogany-paneled media room and library, a state-of-the-art gym, a 5,000-bottle wine cellar with tasting table, and a full-attic playroom. There is a mahogany-paneled office; a poolside cabana and party room; a five-car garage; and a separate one-bedroom, one-bath coach house.

The marvelous eat-in chef’s kitchen is a masterpiece, the heart of this traditional home. The kitchen features cathedral, grained, antique-pine cabinetry; granite countertops; a six-burner range with grill and griddle; a commercial hood; and every conceivable appliance and accessory. There is a full walk-in pantry, custom storage and a trash chute to the garage garbage bins. Adjacent to the kitchen is a comfortable family room with a full wood-burning fireplace and media center, all of which overlooks the beautiful verandas and gardens.

The estate has a resort-type, heated, outdoor pool and a patio overlooking Snapper Creek, and beautifully designed gardens and outdoor entertainment areas. Many of Miami’s most celebrated theme parties and charity events have been hosted in this versatile and unique setting. There are more than 130 linear feet of ipe-planked dock, a private slip, a floating dock, 30/50 amp shore power in three locations, and reinforcing for three lifts. There is a dedicated generator room with a 125 KVA generator and automatic transfer switch capable of running the entire property off the grid for up to two weeks before refueling is required.

The magnificent home was built with careful attention to detail, including the beautiful electric gates and brickwork that surrounds the property. For evening entertaining, there is an abundance of outdoor lighting that illuminates both the home and gardens. No expense spared, truly a one-of-a-kind.
