It was nothing more than a publicity stunt to promote a theater production when the late-great Charlie Cinnamon accidentally created what would become the Coconut Grove Arts Festival.
That was 1963, and when the event returns February 17-19, it will include pieces by 360 artists, making the festival the largest outdoor arts event anywhere. The works span 13 types of media, and at least a third of artists are new every year.
