Dr. Tal Roudner, a board-certified Coral Gables plastic surgeon, doesn’t mince words when describing South Florida’s plastic-surgery landscape:
“It’s the Wild West,” he said. “We’re suffering from clinics that aren’t run by doctors. Patients meet the doctor for five minutes or even on the day of surgery.”

How to play it safe? Roudner, who is world-renowned for his natural-looking nips and tucks, says to choose a doctor who’s certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Next: Make sure the doctor is caring and available to answer questions post-surgery. Ask to see photographs or patient reviews. And beware trendy procedures. Roudner steers away from performing supersize butt implants.
“As with breast implants, going really big can cause issues down the road,” he said. “In 10 years, is this butt going to be down to your knees?”
