Time to add some Caribbean heat to Guy Fieri’s American diner show.
North Miami chef Ivan Dorvil will have his Ivan’s Cookhouse featured on Friday night’s episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” on Food Network. Dorvil will host a watch party with his signature Caribbean-Asian cuisine (yes, you read that right, with inspiration from his native Haiti) to mark the 9 p.m. showing.
Dorvil cuisine and warm character have made him a recurring cooking show talent. He won an episode of Chopped, season 11, and appeared on a 2013 episode of Alton Brown’s “Cutthroat Kitchen.”
Now, after cooking at various Miami Beach restaurants such as Oasis Cafe, and his former Nutmeg Cafe, he returns to a community closer to his heart in North Miami Beach with Ivan’s Cookhouse, now open 19 months.

“People are starting to discover where I’m at. I’ve been working hard seven days a week to give good food to the people in the community,” Dorvil said. “It’s very important to feed the people in the community where you live.”
And feed them, he will. Dorvil’s menu for Friday includes an Island Lobster Bisque, a watercress and avocado salad with roasted shallots and herring croquette, and a Haitian coffee-crusted rack of lamb with a Barbancourt rum demi glace, which is his specialty.
Fieri’s crew filmed at Ivan’s Cookhouse for four days earlier this year. He knows a restaurant being on reality television can be a huge boost, as several Miami spots, such as Miami Smokers, have learned over the years.
