No doubt about it, taking in an opera can be expensive. But Miami Lyric Opera has patron-friendly ticket prices and is offering an even better deal for its July 11-12 performances of Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto at Miami Beach’s Colony Theatre. If you enter the code mlo20 online or mention it when you order, you can get a 20 percent discount on tickets, which are $37 (or $25 for students at the box office only). Performances are 8 p.m. Saturday, 4 p.m. Sunday. (The opera will also be performed Aug. 15-16 at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center in Cutler Bay, but tickets there are $10 higher.)

Sung in Italian with English supertitles, the tragic story of the Duke of Mantua, his court jester Rigoletto and Rigoletto’s beautiful daughter Gilda stars tenor Miguel Angel Lobato as the Duke, baritone Nelson Martinez as Rigoletto and soprano Tina Gorina as Gilda. The Colony is at 1040 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach. Call 305-674-1040 or visit www.colonytheatremiamibeach.com.
