Frequent Miami visitor Rihanna usually wows the crowds when she performs here, or steps out from her Miami Beach hotel for an oceanside stroll.
But in Europe Thursday night, the boo birds were out to greet the Caribbean music queen.
“Riri-dicule” was the headline in one Belgian newspaper Friday morning after the singer’s performance at the high-attendance Pukkelpop music festival outside Brussels.
“Rihanna can’t compare to Beyonce,” clamored another daily.

If you believe reporters at the show, Rihanna’s heart wasn’t really in it, and some of the nearly 70,000 fans could tell she lip-synched — this, two weeks after Beyonce played the country to raves.
“If she wants to lip-synch, at least she should do it well,” one festival goer told La Derniere Heure. “I’d rather listen to her in my car.”
Then there was Rihanna’s tardiness. It might be OK in Miami for the likes of Madonna to let fans sit for 90 minutes, but Euro fans tend to take umbrage fairly fast.
Riri showed up only 50 minutes late, allegedly because of a wardrobe problem. Strange, the paper notes, since she wore one outfit for the entire show.
Speaking of which, the show lasted barely more than an hour, which had the fans booing foul.
To be fair, Rihanna performed the likes of “Umbrella,” “Rude Boys” and “Pon de Replay” under high security in a county hit hard by terrorism. There were, for example, 26 metal detector gates.
But the crowd didn’t take well to her peppering the performance with four-letter words for no apparent reason.
“And she had the gall to tell fans she wanted to party with them,” the newspaper notes. “There was nothing to see last night at the Pukkelpop, except for watching a worldwide star pocket $1 million for just acting like a movie extra.”
Sounds like Riri has some tweaking to do before her big Central Park show next month.
