There was a sense of tragic irony in Monday’s death of Hialeah political fixer and minor reality TV star Herman Echevarria.
Echevarria, real estate sources said, may have been preparing himself financially for retirement when he was found dead in his room at the Epic Hotel in Miami.
Police, who have yet to release the incident report, said today they consider the death to be of natural causes.
Records show Echevarria, 61, who often appeared in Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Miami” alongside wife Alexia Echevarria, bought a just-constructed investment home on Hialeah’s West 42nd Street just two weeks ago.

The records show Echevarria paid seller Luminous Builders $359,000 and got possession of the deed Sept. 20.
“We do mostly income properties and investment houses,” said Luminous broker Odalys Hernandez. “I think Mr. Echevarria was trying to secure his retirement more than anything else. Such a shame.”
L. Michael Osman, a lawyer and one of the builders, said he had one meeting with his friend Echevarria about the sale.
“He looked healthy and very happy to me,” Osman said.
