David and Jennifer Marcus are true partners. The newlyweds — who got hitched last April — are the founders of Golden Doodle, specializing in loot for humans who love dogs. We talked to David (originally from California) and Jennifer (from NYC) about the brand.
Why did you start this company?
David: Simply put, we are huge dog lovers. We currently have two Shiba Inus, Marlo and Avon. About a year ago we realized we wanted a way to show off our love for our four-legged friends wherever we go, and we weren’t thrilled with any of the current options available to us. Our goal was to create a line of apparel and merchandise that allows the breed to shine through the art.

Jennifer: We work with a few different designers to provide the initial art direction, and then allow them to work their magic. It was an amazing experience to watch our ideas come to life. We continue to work with new talent to expand our line of products — sweatshirts, tank tops, hats, laptop stickers, window decals and more.
David: We’ve set a goal to have sophisticated designs that anyone who loves art or cool clothing would be proud to wear. We want to bring the so-called cool designs to the masses at an affordable price.
What else do you want readers to know?
Jennifer: We also make a donation upon every sale to the ASPCA. Giving back to the community that helps save dogs’ lives on a daily basis is very important to us. Dogs have been our therapy, and this is our chance to give back.
