In another life, Sarah Jessica Parker could very well have been a shoe saleswoman, working the floor like the best of ’em.
The actress who is likely best known for her role as iconic style maven/shoe horse Carrie Bradshaw in HBO’s Sex and the City, popped in to Bloomingdale’s Aventura store on Thursday to educate customers and fans about her two year old SJP Collection, full of fun heels, fancy silhouettes and daring open toe styles.
Parker did a meet and greet from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. — behind POTUS-like barricades, mind you — but only with customers who purchased her shoes, which retail from about $75 up to around $300. Dozens of customers, the majority female, waited patiently in line to have a chance to interact with the big- and small-screen star. She told The Miami Herald she loves doing these kind of impromptu appearances.
And interact she did. For two whole hours, Parker helped women try on all styles and sizes, bending down and actually, literally, placing women’s feet into her shoes. Surreal? Yes. Especially for SATC fans. Organizers also said she was going to take over the Bloomie’s Snapchat account.
Parker, in a white hipster gypsy blouse and tight slacks, also posed for selfies, signed soles and even wrapped up a few pairs into boxes.
After her pop-in, Parker was back at the airport to fly to NYC. Her twin daughters, Loretta and Tabitha, turned 7 on Wednesday so we are sure the mother of three (she and Matthew Broderick also have a son, James) wanted to spend quality time with them.
But life had other plans.
On Instagram, Parker complained she was undergoing some outbound travel issues, albeit with life’s creature comforts — a nice plate of food at an Aventura mall restaurant.
“At the end of a wonderfully long day in Aventura. And the flight is delayed. Again. And wasn’t I just on a plane? But I better keep eating, who knows when I will see my next meal.”
The 51-year-old former child star (Square Pegs) posted a pic of a half eaten hamburger (looked pretty rare), French fries and a glass of white wine.
Bon voyage, SJP!
Next up for the stylish lady: a dramedy at her home of HBO called Divorce, about you know what.
She said it was a “landscape” she had always been interested in.
