The city of Sweetwater has proclaimed May 6 to be Commissioner Manuel Duasso Day. Commissioners Jose Manuel Guerra, Isolina Maroñ... ;o, Jose Diaz, Duasso, Jose Antonio Bergouignan, Mayor Manny Maroño and Prisca Barreto celebrate the moment at the May 6 commission meeting. Duasso, who received the proclamation for serving on the commission for close to 20 years, was elected in 1995. He moved into the city in 1973. He applied for the position of maintenance director in 1978. He plans to continue to run for another four-year term when his seat is up for reelection in 2015.
