The Immaculate Conception girls' softball team from Hialeah won the the Miami-Dade All-Catholic Conference Tournament on March 6. The team finished third last year.

Varsity team members include Nick Hernandez-Lefkowitz, Jose Antonio Companioni, Frank Ortega, Lewis Lorenzo, Ramon Sobrado, Nick Vega, Matthew Argote, Christopher Solis, Eric Ceballos, Gabriel Perez, Andrew Iduate, Pedro Ortega, Ignacio De Socarraz-Novoa and Francis Fernandez.
The Bantam II Yankees won their fourth game in a row by beating the A's 12-6 in the Howard Palmetto Baseball-Softball Association.

Miami Country Day School named its Athletes of the Week for the week of April 20-24. They are: Matthew Gladstone, Upper School Male Athlete, varsity tennis: As the team's No. 1 player, Gladstone led the varsity tennis team to its 12th consecutive district championship by winning his singles match and doubles match with partner Alex Rudolph. Both have qualified for state competition.
Frank Gowin of Miami has been selected to attend the 2009 NFL Youth Football Summit in Canton, Ohio. Gowin is the president of the Greater Miami Pop Warner Football League. The league is comprised of about 5,000 youth football players and cheerleaders living in Miami-Dade County.

The junior varsity baseball team from St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School won the All-Catholic Conference Central Division with a 7-0-1 record.
The Pinecrest Premier U11 Panthers soccer team earned a spot in the FYSA Division I President's Cup State Championship game in Merritt Island after defeating Oldsmar 1-0 in the semifinals on March 28. Eleven-year-old Camila Conesa of Coral Gables recently finished as the 11-under grand champion in equitation at the Winter Equestrian Festival Circuit in Wellington. The Bantam II Yankees beat the Twins 16-3 in the Howard Palmetto Baseball-Softball Association. Alexander Acevedo earned a game ball for going 3 for 3 with a triple and four RBI. David Hernandez also received a game ball going 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBI. Acevedo and Hernandez played good defense.
