Hollywood Yankees remain unbeaten
Nicolas Denise hit a clutch single in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Yankees came from behind to edge the Dodgers 17-16 in the Hollywood Hills Rookie Division (age 7 and 8) at Duke Field at Rotary Park.
The unbeaten Yankees (10-0) fell behind in the fourth inning but stayed in the game with strong infield play by second baseman Jonathan Ostrow and pitcher Eddie Diaz.
BASEBALL
WESTON
The Weston Hawks are adding a new 12-and-under baseball team for the spring season. The team will compete in the Florida Premier Baseball League and local and statewide tournaments.
The Hawks are traveling to Cooperstown Dreams Park on June 12 to compete in the premier 12U national tournament. The team's philosophy is to prepare players for high school baseball, teach fundamentals and compete at a high level.
The team will be coached by a local high school baseball coach and coaches with a record of successfully developing kids and winning championships. Tryouts are Nov. 22 at Weston Regional Park. Contact Rick Oren at 954-214-9919.

SOUTH FLORIDA
The South Florida Stingerz 12-year-old girls' fast-pitch softball tournament team defeated four northern Florida teams to win the Fishhawk Tournament in Tampa.
``They displayed a true desire to succeed,'' said Stingerz coach Jeff Rotman. ``Outstanding pitching, timely hitting and very few errors were the keys to winning.''
Kayla Borges, Sam Krauss and Nicky Rotman were awarded Stars of the Game during the tournament. The champs also feature KC Mansfield, Sofia Ortiz, Olivia Hernandez, Jenne Gilbert, Andrea Lopez, Katherine Willoughby, Hannah Zuccari, Brook Macfee and Camilla Lopez.

AYFL
The traditionally strong Pembroke Pines Optimist Bengals program has a league best five teams competing in the American Youth Football League Super Bowl.
The Bengals Pee Wees, 110s, 120s, 135s and Unlimiteds are Super Bowl-bound. The West Pines Wildcats have two (90s, 100s). The Weston Warriors also have two (100s, Unlimiteds) as do the Pasadena Lakes Optimist Panthers (Pee Wees, 120s).
The Cooper City Cowboys (135s), Coral Springs Chargers (110s) and Davie Broncos (90s) each have one. The AYFL formed in 1996 and currently features 14 tackle football and cheerleading programs with each program fielding seven football and seven cheerleading teams.
