Coral Glades takes Taravella to the limit
Deerfield wins over Monarch

A quick tip by setter Maggie Hyams changed the momentum for Taravella in game five, and the Trojans girls' varsity volleyball team edged Coral Glades 25-17, 25-16, 22-25, 20-25, 15-12 in the District 10-6A quarterfinal on Monday at Douglas High School in Parkland.
Ashley Welly, a junior, had three kills (tip) and a service point in game five. Taylor Bolhofner, another junior, had a kill (tip) and two service points. Senior Brittany Haarer had four service points (two aces). Jena Lococo, a senior, had a kill and two service point, and senior Dana Martell had a kill (tip) in the deciding game.
For the Jaguars, Stephanie Holbrook had three kills (tip) and three service points in the fifth game. Amanda Kline added three kills. Setter Sarah Stauffer had two service points. Tessa Conkling and Cristina Knox each added a service point.
After dropping the first two games, Coral Glades made a dramatic comeback to force a fifth game.
In another quarterfinal, Deerfield Beach defeated Monarch 25-11, 27-25, 25-14. Senior Tamara Gamperl had four kills in the first game. Maddy Clawges, a junior, had six service points (two aces) and two kills in game one.
Sophomore Janessa Demecillo had two service points (ace), and senior Alli Flinn had two kills (two tips) and two service points in the first game.
Junior Amy Dorvick had three kills (two blocks) and a service point, and senior libero Jillian Brumley added three service points. Senior Lara Barauna had two service points in game one.
Senior Alyssa Robertson, the best hitter on the court, led the Knights in digs and kills.
