West Miramar Panthers beat Deerfield
Patrick Surtain II ran for 139 yards and three touchdowns, and Dylan Litsinberger scored the winner on a kickoff return as the West Miramar Panthers 90s edged the Deerfield Beach Raiders 30-25 in the South Florida Youth Football League.
Litsinberger added 73 rushing yards and scored the winner on a 70-yard kickoff return. Kai Campbell gained 116 yards on the ground.
Victor Harvey Jr. also scored. Brandon Bell caught an extra point pass.
Addison Alufohai kicked two 2-pointers and five solid kickoffs. Brandon Guthrie-Serrao, Richard Evans, Rylan Osterfeld, Christian Garcia and Eitan Guerrero worked hard on defense.
Brandon Hollis had an interception. Jalen Rumph, Dezarian Hernandez, Brandon Molina, Tristan Parker, Marc Christie and Clarence Kelly played well on offense, helping amass 358 rushing yards, five touchdowns and zero turnovers.
FOOTBALL
PEMBROKE PINES
Anthony Johnson rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns as the Pembroke Pines Optimist Bengals 100s defeated the Davie Broncos 32-0 in the American Youth Football League.
Stanford Samuels, who gained 72 yards, and Dorion Soto each scored. Samuels also completed several big pass plays to Christian Salas, setting up the offense. Terrence Crittenden, Ernie Santiago, Brian Edwards, Dominick Watt, Rodney Labossiere and Connor Wilson blocked very well.
Darnell Clarke forced a fumble on a stellar onside kick recovered by Dominick Watt. Jean Lubin, Sidney McCloud and Johnson also played well on special teams.
McCloud had six tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery. Michael Hicks recorded four tackles and two sacks and forced a fumble. Crittenden added three tackles.
Johnson made three tackles and a sack. Edwards had two tackles and a sack. Soto had two tackles, and Michael Carbone made two tackles and recovered a fumble. Jequan Crane, Moises Alicea and Robert Harding also worked hard on defense to maintain the shutout.
COOPER CITY
The Cooper City Optimist Cowboys Pee Wees defeated the Fort Lauderdale Jaguars 41-0 in the American Youth Football League.
Jesse Rivera had two touchdowns (55 and 25 yards). Tavarius Robinson scored on a 60-yard run. Gabriel Delacadena had a 25-yard touchdown run and an extra point run. Michael Hebding and Jack O'Malley had a 10-yard touchdown run.
Bryce Weinsier, Alec Scott and Nicolas C. Marino had extra point runs. Robinson and Rivera excelled as running backs, and quarterback Bryce Weinsier played well.
Jordan Aronson and Nicholas J. Marino did a good job at center.
Conner Solomone and Ryan Garcia each had two sacks. Gabriel Delacadena excelled at safety. Ray Batten made two tackles for losses. Game MVPs were Weinsier (offense); Batten (defense); Marino (special teams).
100: COOPER CITY 13, FORT LAUDERDALE 12 (OT): Trevor Reto's interception in overtime sealed the win.
Tied at six in overtime, Zachary Bernstein scored, and Joseph Ruma added the winning extra point run. Trailing 13-6, the Jaguars scored, but Reto then intercepted the conversion to end the game.
Bernstein was 5 of 6 passing for 43 yards. He also scored twice on runs. Ruma had 69 yards rushing, caused a fumble and recovered a fumble.
Darrell Wise made three interceptions and two tackles. Bryan Smith had two tackles and a fumble recovery. Reto had a tackle and an interception. Hard working performer Jonathan Miller recorded four tackles, and Troy Ingle had three tackles.
