Pine Crest outside hitter Katie Cundy injured her ankle in a match earlier this season against Martin County when 6-5 standout Elise Walch landed on it.

Cundy, a junior, recently returned and made an impact in the Panthers' big district win over rival North Broward Prep 25-21, 26-24, 25-13 on Tuesday at home in Fort Lauderdale.

Cundy recorded to key kills late in the opening game including one to give Pine Crest a four-point lead, 24-20. In the second game, a close battle, she recorded five more kills with two down the stretch, evening things at 21 and putting the Panthers ahead 22-21.

Last season, the Eagles eliminated Pine Crest in the Region 4-3A semifinal in five games off a controversial call. Cundy helped them gain some measure of revenge on Tuesday on the same court where they were eliminated.

Crystal Dedes, St. Thomas Aquinas: junior middle had 15 kills, 10 blocks in two wins including one over Douglas.

Caiti Donahoe, Cardinal Gibbons: sophomore setter had seven blocks, four Kills, 85 assists, 12 digs, 15 service points, five aces in wins over Cypress Bay, Hallandale, Westminster Academy.

Brianna O'Neil, Chaminade: sophomore middle hitter had 35 kills, three blocks, 19 service points, five aces.

Ali Pablos, Archbishop McCarthy: junior setter had 109 assists, 38 service points.

Kelley Ray, Highlands Christian: senior middle hitter had 28 kills, six blocks.

Alyssa Robertson, Monarch: senior hitter had 75 kills, nine aces, 15 service points, four blocks, 29 digs in Lady Chiefs Invitational.

April Sicam, Chaminade: sophomore libero had 33 digs, 23 service points, six aces.

Siana Summey, Sagemont: junior hitter had 36 kills, 16 service points, 31 digs in wins over University School and Somerset and a loss to Boca Raton-St. Andrews.

Veronica Vazquez, Archbishop McCarthy: sophomore libero had 52 digs, 39 service points, 16 aces.

Jessica Wynn, Cardinal Gibbons: junior hitter had 12 blocks, 44 kills, six digs, 24 service points, nine aces in three wins.
