Milestone for WWE SmackDown
World Wrestling Entertainment announced it will make broadcast television history on Oct. 2 by commemorating 10 years of Friday Night SmackDown.
A themed episode celebrating a Decade of SmackDown will air 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. CST Friday on MyNetworkTV. Decade of SmackDown will draw WWE superstars and divas from each brand to commemorate this milestone along with a few surprises.
As a pop culture staple, SmackDown has aired more than 520 episodes, surpassing The Simpsons, Married With Children and Law & Order, to name a few, in total episodes; it has been watched more than 2.7-billion times by viewers in the United States; it is seen in 79 countries internationally and airs in 22 languages; it has featured such celebrities as Samuel L. Jackson, Ashton Kutcher, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jimmy Kimmel and Sherri Shepherd; it is MyNetworkTV's most-watched telecast among households and total viewers.
SmackDown has been instrumental in the success of each of the networks that have aired the program. The show moved to its current home, MyNetworkTV, in October 2008 and is the No. 1 show on broadcast television on Friday nights among Males 50 and younger.
Friday Night SmackDown, which also dominates the P18-49 demographic, can be seen 8 p.m. EST each Friday on MyNetworkTV.
