McCoughtry, Griner named WNBA Players of the Week

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Angel McCoughtry of the Atlanta Dream and Brittney Griner of the Phoenix Mercury were named the WNBA's Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ending June 22.
McCoughtry led Atlanta to a 2-1 mark behind a conference-best 26.0 ppg, keeping the Dream atop the Eastern Conference with a 9-4 record. She also supplied 7.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.7 steals per game.
Griner earned her first weekly honor after ranking second in the Western Conference with 27.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. The former No. 1 pick led the West in field goal percentage (.767) and blocks (4.0).
