Winston-Salem, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Czech slugger Lukas Rosol claimed his second ATP World Tour title after saving two match points to beat Poland's Jerzy Janowicz at the Winston-Salem Open final on Saturday.
Rosol, the No. 7 seed, rallied past Janowicz 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 on the hardcourts at Wake Forest University.
The 29-year-old Rosol has reached the quarterfinals or better at his last five tournaments. It was his first title since last year's win in Bucharest.
Rosol is projected to climb to a career-high in the Emirates ATP Rankings next week. He is currently ranked No. 33, equaling the career-high he set in May 2013. He will climb as high as No. 27 with his win Saturday. Janowicz, for his runner-up finish, is expected to rise from No. 52 to 43.
Janowicz, 23, had won the only other meeting with Rosol, beating him in straight sets last year in Marseille. He fell to 0-2 in ATP finals, losing his only other title match to David Ferrer in Paris in 2012.
Rosol took home $80,280 with the victory.
