Umag, Croatia (SportsNetwork.com) - The lone seed on Monday's schedule came up a loser at the hands of a 17-year-old at the Croatia Open tennis event.
Croatian wild card Borna Coric, 17, upended seventh-seeded world No. 46 Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-2, 6-4 on the red clay at ITC Stella Maris.
Another Day 1 result saw Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta overtake Italian Paolo Lorenzi 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.
Spaniard Tommy Robredo beat Italian Fabio Fognini in last year's finale in Umag, where Fognini and Robredo, respectively, are this week's top seeds.
The 2014 Croatia Open titlist will collect $105,000.
