Gulliver Prep, led by four Smiddy siblings, finished fifth overall -- tops in Miami-Dade -- in boys and girls during the Region 4-1A swimming and diving championships Friday at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex.

''They are doing tremendous and help our team so much,'' Gulliver coach Peter Prins said. ``Not only are they good swimmers, but they are good role models, dedicated to the sport and represent our team and our school very well.''

Susan, a senior, was fifth in the 100- and 200-yard freestyles. Clara, a seventh-grader, was second in the 100 freestyle and 200 individual medley. They helped the the 200 and 400 freestyle relays place second.

Andrew, a sophomore, swam for the winning 200 freestyle relay and was eighth in the 200 individual medley. He also was part of the 200 medley relay that finished fourth. Samuel, an eighth-grader, was sixth in the 500 freestyle and third in the consolation finals of the 200 freestyle.
