Promising future for Booker T.'s Clements

Booker T. Washington running back Eduardo Clements gave Tornado fans plenty to look forward to for the next two years.
One of only two sophomores to start for Washington, Clements scored all three touchdowns in the Tornadoes 23-15 win over Nease in Saturday's 4A state title game. He finished with 100 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, and added three catches for 33 yards and one score.
It did not take long for Nease to learn what they had to deal with as Clements opened the game with a 14-yard run, and followed that up with a 26-yard dash. On a team that boasts three receivers who will all likely end up at major colleges, Clements made sure the Panther defense had more to worry about than stopping Theron Collier, Davon Johnson and Brandon Harris.
''Every team says they can match our speed, but we have too many receivers, a quarterback who can run, and a running back who is going to get what he's going to get,'' Clements said.
Clements finished the season with 687 rushing yards, 188 receiving yards, and 14 total touchdowns.
Tornadoes coach Tim Harris said that with a player like Clements returning, as well as quarterback Torrance Moise, the team's future is in good hands.
''We put a lot of pressure on him being a young kid, and one thing we we wanted to play our young guys early, and it was an excellent thing that these guys got a chance to help us win a state championship,'' Harris said. ``With Clements coming back and with Torrance coming back, we should look good and feel good about our young guys for next year. But now, we just want to focus on this moment.''
