Krop edges Palmetto in boys' basketball clash

Miami Herald Writer

The Krop boys' basketball team squeaked out a victory Tuesday in what turned into a duel between two of Miami-Dade County's top players.

The Lightning (2-0) edged visiting Palmetto 80-79, led by guard Angel Rodriguez, who scored a team-high 38 points. Palmetto's Tim Hardaway Jr. also put on a great offensive performance as he scored a game-high 48 points in the loss.

Krop head coach Marcos ``Shakey'' Rodriguez said that the game was an instant classic.

``This was one of the best games that I've been a part of,'' Rodriguez said. ``[Rodriguez and Hardaway Jr.] went back and forth in those last two minutes. One guy would come down and shoot a three on the other guy, then one would come back a get basket on him, it was a great high school basketball game.''

BASEBALL SIGNING

Belen Jesuit pitcher Edgar Sanchez signed a letter of intent with Barry University.
