FIU and Pittsburgh have agreed to a two-game, home-and-home series.
The Golden Panthers visit the Panthers Oct. 2, 2010, and Pitt comes to FIU Stadium for the return game on Sept. 13, 2014.
The series is another addition to FIU's new policy of only playing home-and-home series with nonconference opponents. FIU played its last guaranteed-money game Saturday at Florida.
``In a metropolitan city like Miami, savvy football fans get excited to see out-of-conference opponents like the ones FIU has lined up,'' Sun Belt commissioner Wright Waters said. ``[FIU athletic director] Pete Garcia is right on target. At the end of the day, you are known in athletics by the company you keep. This will be a huge boon for FIU's recruiting. I think this is the way you build a program.''
Next season, FIU plays host to Rutgers, and plays at Texas A&M, Maryland and Pitt.
FIU also has future home-and-home series lined up with Central Florida, Louisville and Duke through 2014.
FIU still has four open nonconference dates to fill between 2011 and 2014.
Garcia said FIU is in talks with teams from the Atlantic Coast, Big 10 and Big East conferences to fill those dates.
