Miami is going to be a little short-handed at safety against No. 8 Oklahoma on Saturday night at Land Shark Stadium.
Senior Randy Phillips (forearm) and backup JoJo Nicolas (upper extremity) were ruled out for the game Thursday. Junior Jared Campbell (six tackles), freshman Ray Ray Armstrong (three tackles) and senior Chavez Grant (two tackles) are expected to fill in at the spot alongside redshirt freshman Vaughn Telemaque.
Also ruled out: fullback Patrick Hill (lower extremity) and defensive end Dyron Dye (lower extremity). Tight end Richard Gordon (shoulder) is listed as doubtful.
The good news? Defensive tackle Marcus Forston (ankle), receiver Aldarius Johnson (groin) and running back Lee Chambers (leg) are expected back after missing the Virginia Tech game.
- Coach Randy Shannon said quarterback Spencer Whipple -- who transferred this week from Massachusetts and is the son of UM offensive coordinator Mark Whipple -- has done a good job of running the scout team.
