Defending national champ Clemson led all Atlantic Coast Conference schools Wednesday with five players selected to the All-ACC Preseason Football Team.
The Miami Hurricanes, chosen by the media to win their Coastal Division and face Florida State in the ACC Championship Game, placed four players on the All-ACC Preseason Team: wide receiver Ahmmon Richards, running back Mark Walton, linebacker Shaquille Quarterman and kicker Michael Badgley.
All four of the Hurricanes have been nominated for major college awards.
Walton, the ACC announced, finished a close second to reigning Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson, who is from Pompano Beach and is a sophomore at Louisville, for ACC Player of the Year. Jackson’s 132 votes led all players. Walton, who is out of Miami Booker T. Washington and rushed for over 1,100 yards last season, garnered 127 votes.
Coach Mark Richt received his own honor on Wednesday as he was named to the preseason watch list for the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Trophy.
