About This Blog

Susan Miller Degnan covers the Miami Hurricanes for the Miami Herald. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from George Washington University (and met her future husband there, resulting in three awesome children). She chronicled the resurgence of Miami football in the early 2000s, its slow decline and what appears to be another rise with the hiring of Mark Richt. She also covers the four-time national championship UM baseball team. Along the way, she has covered the Olympics, America’s Cup, Miami Open tennis, marathons, Super Bowls and several national championship games in football. Michelle Kaufman attended the University of Miami from 1983-87, and was Sports Editor of the school newspaper, back when Bernie Kosar and Vinny Testaverde were making national headlines and the resurrected basketball team played at the James L. Knight Center. She spent three years at the St. Petersburg Times, where she covered the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, seven very cold (but wonderful) years at the Detroit Free Press and returned home to the Miami Herald in 1996. She has covered 14 Olympics, 6 World Cups, and numerous Wimbledons, U.S. Opens, Final Fours, Super Bowls, World Series and NBA Finals.
