Dillard, girls' basketball: Tournament MVP Dawnn Maye was two assists short of a triple double -- 16 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists -- to help the Panthers defeat Nova 49-33 in the BCAA Big 8 title game. Led by Maye, Dillard (24-1, ranked No. 1 in Class 5A) used a 20-7 blitz in the third quarter to earn its third consecutive Big 8 title. Junior 6-2 center Candace Parson added 16 points and 12 rebounds.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

• Ray Taylor, American Heritage, boys' basketball: The Florida Atlantic signee had 29 points and seven assists in 73-69 win against reigning 3A state champion Pine Crest.

• Brandon Knight, Pine Crest, boys' basketball: Knight (No. 2 in 2010 class by Rivals.com) had a game-high 31 points, including six three-pointers, and eight assists in a 73-69 loss to American Heritage.

• Kenny Boynton Jr., American Heritage, boys' basketball: Boynton scored 26 points in a win against University School to boost his career total to 3,265 and become the fourth all-time leading scorer in state history.

• Louis Pecora, Chaminade, boys' basketball: Pecora had a career-high 30 points in a loss to Westlake Prep.

• Xavier Martin, Miramar, boys' basketball: Martin had a game-high 37 points, including five three-pointers, in a 65-62 road loss to reigning 4A state champ Miami Pace.

• Jonathan Randolph, Blanche Ely, boys' basketball: Randolph had 16 points and three assists in 75-67 road victory against Northeast.

• T'Keyah Williams, Nova, girls' basketball: Williams' three-point play off a steal and layup with 1:38 left put the Titans ahead for good in a 62-55 victory against Blanche Ely in the Big 8 semifinals.

• Joanna Harden, Blanche Ely, girls' basketball: Harden had a game-high 28 points in a 62-55 loss to Nova.

• Alexis Thornton, North Broward Prep, girls' basketball: Thornton had a game-high 19 points in 76-42 victory against Coral Springs Christian.

• Krystal Saunders, South Broward, girls' basketball: Saunders had a team-high 22 points in 54-51 loss to Dillard.

• Madison Kinsell, Cypress Bay, girls' soccer: Kinsell scored two goals, including the game-winner three minutes into overtime, as the Lightning beat Coral Springs 2-1 in a Class 6A regional quarterfinal.

• Melanie Moskow, North Broward Prep, girls' soccer: Moskow made the game-winning penalty kick in 1-0 victory over University School in a 3A Regional quarterfinal.

• Jeremy Katz, University School, boys' soccer: Katz had a goal and two assists to lead the Suns against the reigning 3A state champions American Heritage 4-0 in the District 14-3A final.
