United releases Janicki, Allen

Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - D.C. United announced on Monday that it released defender Greg Janicki and midfielder Ely Allen.

Janicki originally came to the club on loan in September of 2008, while Allen joined the team on July 24 as a mid-season signing.

Janicki amassed 422 minutes of play over seven appearances, including five starts during Major League Soccer play. Allen didn't make any MLS appearances, but he played in three CONCACAF Champions League games.
