Chelsea's Bosingwa to miss Atletico match

The Sports Network

Defender Jose Bosingwa will miss Chelsea's Champions League game against Atletico Madrid through injury.

The Portugal right-back picked up a knee injury during Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa and will not feature against the Spanish side at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Bosingwa was set to make his first European appearance of the season after missing the first two group games through suspension.

"Bosingwa had a problem with his knee in the game against Aston Villa," revealed manager Carlo Ancelotti, who will again turn to Serbia defender Branislav Ivanovic in his absence.

"He will not play tomorrow but I think it is not a big problem and I hope we can use him on Saturday (at home to Blackburn Rovers)."

Elsewhere, Ancelotti welcomes back John Obi Mikel, Alex and Michael Ballack from injury for the Group D encounter.

However, Didier Drogba will miss the game as he completes his three-match European ban.
