Renowned marine wildlife artist and conservationist Guy Harvey will be inducted into the International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame on Tuesday in Dania Beach.
Harvey, 54, who travels frequently between Fort Lauderdale and his home in the Cayman Islands, is one of five men being named to the 11th Hall of Fame class for their angling achievements and contributions to fisheries science, innovation and conservation.
Though best known for his popular artwork decorating everything from T-shirts to mouse pads and his documentaries on sport fishing, Harvey also is being honored for his contributions to fisheries research and conservation.
In 1999, he established a research institute at Nova Southeastern University and last year launched the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation to support marine conservation and education causes. He has illustrated several fishing-related books and has been a member of the IGFA Board of Trustees since 1993.
Previous inductees into the Hall of Fame include fishermen/authors Ernest Hemingway and Zane Grey and former Miami MET executive director Lefty Kreh.
