A top prize of $5,000 will be awarded in the Mad Dog Mandich Fishing Classic from Oct. 16-17 in Islamorada. Eligible species are wahoo, dolphin and kingfish. Scuba Works in Jupiter will hold the fifth annual Florida Lobster Challenge from Oct. 17-18. Anyone catching a lobster weighing 16 pounds or more will win $15,000. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will hold a public workshop concerning lemon sharks from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 20 at the IGFA Hall of Fame and Museum, 300 Gulf Stream Way, Dania Beach. The agency wants to know what the public thinks about prohibiting the commercial and recreational harvest of lemon sharks in state waters.
